On the Cross-Correlation of a p-Ary m-Sequence and Its Decimated Sequences by d=(pn+1)/(pk+1)+(pn-1)/2

چکیده
In this paper, for an odd prime p such that p ≡ 3 mod 4, odd n, and d = (pn +1)/(pk +1)+ (pn −1)/2 with k|n, the value distribution of the exponential sum S (a, b) is calculated as a and b run through Fpn . The sequence family G in which each sequence has the period of N = pn − 1 is also constructed. The family size of G is pn and the correlation magnitude is roughly upper bounded by (pk + 1) √ N/2. The weight distribution of the relevant cyclic code C over Fp with the length N and the dimension dimFpC = 2n is also derived. key words: cross-correlation, cyclic code, decimated sequence, exponential sum, m-sequence, sequence family, quadratic form, weight distribution

For an odd prime p and n = 2m, a new decimation d = (p−1) 2 +1 of Niho type ofm-sequences is presented. Using generalized Niho’s Theorem, we show that the cross-correlation function between a p-ary m-sequence of period pn−1 and its decimated sequence by the above d is at most six-valued and we can easily know that the magnitude of the cross correlation is upper bounded by 4 √ p − 1.
